Life in Dallas

Life in Dallas

Dallas isn’t just ten-gallon hats and cowboy boots! The DFW Metroplex boasts a variety of different cities, and one’s sure to suit. Dallas is the home city for four major sports teams, the Cowboys, Stars, Rangers and Mavericks, as well as nightlife ranging from the bohemian Deep Ellum to the trendy Uptown. Our concert venues are always full, and the Dallas Museum of Art is sure to please.

With one of the lowest costs of living in the United States and no state income tax, Dallas also makes financial sense. Many of the city’s suburbs boast award-winning schools, and family-friendly seasonal events are nearly ongoing! There’s something for everyone! Game Circus is located near Addison, a Dallas suburb that hosts a wide variety of family events, from OktoberFest to Taste Addison. The Texas State Fair is just downtown, and Scarborough Renaissance Festival is only an hour away.

Dallas is close behind Austin as one of the major gaming cities in the state, and over 20 studios operate in the city and its suburbs. We have an IGDA Chapter, with monthly industry drink-ups and various other game dev oriented events. Most recently, the city hosted a Gearbox Community Day, as well as QuakeCon and Dallas Comic Con!
